Spring Break Short Session - 2nd day

It was like a summer ecoworkshop - so much sun, no clouds, happy, happy kids!
First, there was a lot of fun with playing many games, then we made gardening and some art & craft projects. We were collecting pine cones in the garden in groups of two Eco Kids. Later we were counting them. One group had 150! Is is possible?...

Later also we divided into the groups. Some new Eco Kids were painting the pots (and the one who could not do it the last time). These were the pots made from leftovers of marbles. Eco Kids painted them with acrylic and so the pots can stay outside on a balcony or in a garden. Later, when they dried Eco Kids planted there this plant:

Japanese spirea
Easily grown in average, medium moisture, well-drained soils in full sun. Tolerates light shade. Tolerates a wide range of soils. Remove faded flower clusters as practicable (light shearing is an option) to encourage additional bloom. Flowers on new wood, so prune in late winter to early spring if needed.
Japanese spirea is a dense, upright, mounded, deciduous shrub that typically grows 4-6’ tall with a slightly larger spread. Leaves (to 3” long) are oval and sharpely toothed. Tiny pink flowers in flat-topped clusters (corymbs) cover the foliage in late spring to mid-summer with sparse and intermittent repeat bloom often occurring throughout the remainder of the growing season. Flowers are attractive to butterflies.

When it will be bigger in the pot, remember to plant it in the garden and then use the pot for the other plant or flower:)

Some Eco Kids were painting brooches: butterflies, mice and ladybugs. Then they put on it some decorations and the brooches were ready to put on the t-shirts. Just look at the photo:

There were some acrylic, which stayed after painting the pots, so Eco Kids used it for painting the candles for the garden. They looked liked rainbow candles!

We made today also Gardening & Planting Books. In the books kids wrote or drawn important information about gardening and planting. And also poems! They put there photos of pots, flowers, grass, etc. They liked to do it very, very much!

The last thing for the session was a long snake. Eco Kids were painting skin of it... The snake was made out of the bottles. From 4 plastic bottles each!

I would forget about gardening - yes, we planted today:
  • paprika
  • bean
Eco Kids already had known how to do it and I was proud of them!

This was a great session. Kids enjoyed it and me too. We spent our time in a creative way doing so many things and playing!

Next time with most of you we will see on Saturday 12th, see you!
