Gardening with the hedgehogs

What a Saturday with great sun and rain and so many great projects! I will start from the end this time. It is funny to see parents, especially dads, who come to pick up Eco Kids and see their faces when I say, you have to take three, four, sometimes even twelve projects (when you have three Eco Kids:)
Gardening is always interesting. Kids love to learn how to plant flowers while doing it and to learn how to take care of them. Today we used leftovers from the last ecoworkshop. So Eco Kids took small plastic pots from the flowers we planted last Saturday. Then they planted the flowers, which I bought in ASW. These were China Asters. I just want to remind you, that the money from selling the seeds third grade gave to charity, to the hospital, which was a great idea. Eco Kids planted the flowers, put some water in the pots and in the end took it home.

The second project was painting wooden hangers. We were talking about Earth Day and our planet so they painted this with blue and green colors. They really looked like Earth! Eco Kids loved this project, also because we did not use the traditional paints, but varnish in spray. And first they put cups on the hangers, then spray the varnish on it, so it looked really interesting. Now they are ready to hang!

Between the projects Eco Kids played around, even in the rain in the afternoon.

The third project was special! Eco Kids did hedgehogs. First they were constructing it and then painting. I asked them to use gold, brown, white and black and to try to mix these colors and get some light and dark ones. It turned out just fabulous and so different! It took some time to do it, but it was worth it. In the end we added... apples from paper, that was cool! The animals looked almost as if they were alive. I wonder where Eco Kids will put the hedgehogs at home...

Looking forward to the next Saturday and more gardening, but this time some small plants in bigger pots. See you!
